Draft Climate Change Strategy for Northamptonshire
2010-2014
Consultation - until 26th March 2009
This Strategy sets out the framework for action by members of the Northamptonshire Partnership to:
-
Raise awareness of the issues of climate change and its impact on Northamptonshire;
-
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the county; and
-
Plan for and adapt to the inevitable impacts of climate change.
This is a stakeholder document for the Northamptonshire Partnership and other partners engaged in addressing climate change rather than a 'public' document. As it has been developed and shaped by Local Area Agreement (LAA) partner officers it has in effect undergone a period of extensive consultation. However, it is planned that a further eight weeks be made available for partners to make any final changes and contributions to the document.
Over the next few weeks, partners will also be developing an Action Plan for 2010-11 detailing the collaborative actions to be undertaken by the various LAA partners to implement the Strategy.
It is intended that the Climate Change Strategy incorporating any comments and changes made during the consultation, and the Climate Change Action Plan 2010-11 be presented to the Public Service Board for endorsement in March / April 2010 and for recommendation of its formal adoption by each LAA partner.
Any comments, amendments and additions to the Strategy are required by 26th March (earlier if possible).
