ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING WORKSHOPS FREE EVENTS

RNRP has secured funding of £9,980.00, under the 'Awards for All' initiative from the Big Lottery Fund, to run twelve day long community workshops for environmental and skills development. The full programme of events is now available.

A tour took place on 23rd June at Dovecote Farm at Upper Heyford of a restored meadow rcreated under HLS, meeting CSF targets.

BOUGHTON POCKET PARK PLAYBUILDER SCHEME RECEIVES FUNDING AGREEMENT

RNRP and Artemis Landscape Architects have been working with the Boughton Pocket Park committee to produce an innovative and inspiring play scheme for this exciting site. A review of the progress took place with the Playbuilder panel last week, and an agreement has now been issued. Carole Jones, Playbuilder Project Manager says '... it is looking a very exciting and challenging project'

New marina for Northampton press release

AMBITIOUS MARINA PROJECT IS SAILING AHEAD

The transformation of the disused boating lake into an 80-berth marina is taking another step forward this week.

Around 250 fish, including pike, tench, carp, roach and an eel, have been moved from the lake at Northampton's Becket's Park by the Environment Agency and released into the River Nene.

BUTTERFLY CONSERVATION SOCIETY'S 6TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM

Dr Robin Field (Revital-ISE Project Officer) joined other butterfly experts from across the world at Butterfly Conservation Society's 6th International Symposium at Reading University from the 26th to 28th March 2010. 

Dr Field presented a poster on 'the Northamptonshire meadows project' where species rich grasslands are being restored and re-created along the Rivers Nene and Ise in Northamptonshire.

Northampton Racecourse New Adventure Play Area

NEW ADVENTURE PLAY AREA TAKES SHAPE ON NORTHAMPTON'S RACECOURSE

Work is almost completed on the new adventure play area on The Racecourse, due to open 14th May.

The River Nene Regional Park, in partnership with Bee Bee Developments Ltd, ALSF Natural England, Environment Agency, Natural England and North Northamptonshire Development Company, and stakeholders, have produced the above document to support the delivery of a shared vision for the future of the Nene Valley. This focuses on the Nene Valley and its hinterland between Northampton and Peterborough, but also extends to the Rockingham Forest and, indeed, most of the area of North Northamptonshire.

Identifying Freshwater Invertebrates

REVITAL-ISE ORGANISES FREE TRAINING EVENT FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS

The Revital-ISE project which aims to revive the River Ise and its surrounding environment and increase community involvement has held its first community training event at Newton Field Centre. The aim of this event was to improve community group involvement in management of wildlife sites in both the Nene and Ise Valleys.

The Landscape Character Network (LCN) has held a seminar in the East Midlands to promote the East Midlands Landscape Partnership's draft Regional Landscape Character Assessment, to raise awareness of some of the key landscape issues in the Region and to provide a forum for discussion to help in ELC implementation.

New bridge news article

NEW £120,000 "ACCESS-FOR-ALL" BRIDGE TO THE NENE WAY

A joint project between Northampton Borough Council, Northamptonshire County Council and River Nene Regional Park, the £120,000 bridge will re-open access for pedestrians and cyclists with a route from Midsummer Meadow across the River Nene and through to the Nene Valley.

Wildflower meadow established through Higher Level Scheme at Upper Heyford

NEW WILDFLOWER MEADOW CREATED NEXT TO THE NENE WAY

The River Nene Regional Park secured funding from Natural England's Higher Level Scheme for Mr & Mrs Banner, Dovecote Farm, Upper Heyford, Northamptonshire to create a 13.5 hectare (33 acres) of wildflower meadow next to the Nene Way and River Nene at Upper Heyford.

New marina for Northampton press release 

FUNDING WILL HELP DELIVER A MARINA FOR NORTHAMPTON

09 January 2009- Board members at West Northamptonshire Development Corporation today approved £1,887,600 as part of funding to create a marina in Becket's Park, Northampton. The marina would form phase 1A of a wider project and bring 82 permanent and a number of visitor moorings to the disused rowing lake.

NCC Playbuilder Scheme

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE PLAY SPACES TO RECEIVE FUNDING THROUGH NCC PLAYBUILDER SCHEME

Playbuilder is part of the National Play Strategy that aims to change the way play children's spaces are commissioned, designed and built.
NCC have £800,000 to contribute toward the cost of approximately 19 schemes to develop new or refurbish existing play spaces over the next two financial years.

REVITAL-ISE TROUT IN THE CLASSROOM UPDATE

The hatcheries have now been stocked with over 100 fry. One pupil commented, "It feels nice as it is not every day that you see a trout in your classroom!"
